European Works Council Interpreting Services

Specialist support for multilingual EWC meetings delivered by consistent interpreting teams, trusted technical partners and a vetted network of conference interpreters across Europe.

Whether you require one language booth or a multilingual team covering several European languages, I can help you plan and deliver a multilingual EWC meeting in which every representative can follow, contribute and be heard.

WHAT YOU GET WITH MY APPROACH TO EWC INTERPRETING

400+ hours of specialist EWC experience

European Works Council meetings are not ordinary corporate events. Discussions can be technical, commercially sensitive and closely connected to previous meetings and decisions.

A consistent interpreting team gradually becomes familiar with your organisation, terminology, speakers, EWC structure and, most importantly, your company culture. This continuity reduces unnecessary preparation, supports more confident communication and helps complex discussions flow naturally.

My experience covers:

  • EWC plenary sessions
  • Select committee meetings
  • EWC training sessions
  • In-person meetings
  • Fully online meetings
  • Hybrid meetings connecting participants and interpreters across different locations

This specialist experience complements my wider work in simultaneous interpreting and multilingual event coordination.

Continuity in every language booth

My approach is based on consistent core teams rather than filling each meeting from scratch according to who happens to be available first.

Wherever possible, each language is covered by the same trusted booth partners across plenary sessions, select committee meetings and training. This allows the interpreters to build knowledge of your organisation, recurring topics, terminology and speakers over time.

I also identify suitable standby substitutes. They receive relevant briefing materials in advance, so they are already familiar with the assignment and can step in if a core team member becomes unavailable.

This approach gives you:

  • Consistent terminology between meetings
  • Interpreters who understand your organisation and EWC
  • Stronger teamwork within each booth
  • Dependable contingency arrangements
  • Less disruption when an unexpected substitution is necessary
  • A team that becomes more effective with every meeting

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

One trusted team for multilingual EWC meetings

When an EWC requires several languages, I assemble the team by drawing on my established European network.

I work with vetted professional conference interpreters whose language combinations, subject knowledge and professional approach match the assignment. I have worked alongside many of these colleagues and heard them interpret first-hand in an EWC setting—giving me direct knowledge of their skills, preparation and professional approach.

Depending on your requirements, I can support you with:

  • Interpreter selection and team coordination
  • Consistent core teams for each language booth
  • Advance selection and briefing of standby substitutes
  • Terminology and document preparation
  • Communication with interpreters before the meeting
  • Coordination across recurring EWC sessions

You have one clear point of contact while benefiting from an extensive network of trusted colleagues throughout Europe.

For English–Italian meetings, Bruno Musarra is one of the booth partners I work with most regularly.

Bruno is a qualified conference interpreter with extensive experience in multilingual corporate settings. If either of us is unavailable, I prioritise a standby colleague who has been selected and briefed in advance.

This is the standard I aim to build across the whole interpreting team: trusted core booth partners, supported by carefully selected substitutes who can step in without starting from zero.

Lara was one of two simultaneous interpreters on a two-day series of governmental meetings (Italian-English). She is an excellent interpreter, and very professional and organized. She helped take care of all the details with the tech setup which made our lives a lot easier. I wouldn't hesitate to use her services again.

Policy analyst, OECD – OCDE

Lara spent 5 days interpreting between my Dutch, Turkish and English artisan cheesemakers and two wonderful mozzarella consultants from southern Italy. The project was a roaring success, in no small part due to Lara's outstanding language and inter-personal skills. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We've used Lara Fasoli several times as a translator, as well as a simultaneous interpreter, to provide both translation and interpretation services to some of our clients. Her work is excellent, her approach is flexible, and we keep getting really good feedback from all the work she has done. EWC interpreting services FAQ

I have never worked with an interpreter: how does it work?

Working with an interpreter is a straightforward process aimed at facilitating communication between individuals who speak different languages. As an experienced Italian simultaneous interpreter, my role is to listen to my client’s specific requirements, provide a personalised quote with a service proposal, facilitate the hiring of any AV equipment, and assist them during the meeting by listening to the speaker in one language and convey their message accurately and fluently in Italian or vice versa. Whether it’s a conference, meeting, or event, I ensure seamless communication by interpreting in real-time or consecutively, depending on the situation, allowing all participants to understand and engage effectively.

Do I need EWC translators or interpreters?

For spoken multilingual meetings, you need conference interpreters. “EWC translators” is sometimes used informally, but translation normally refers to written documents. I can help you identify the right interpreting format for your meeting.

What does interpreting mean?

Interpreting is the art of orally translating spoken language from one language to another in real-time (simultaneous interpretation) or with a slight delay (consecutive interpretation). This is different from translation, which is a process that deals with written information instead. Interpreting, sometimes also referred to as “live translation”, requires formal training in the techniques and skills needed to accurately relay all information. As an Italian interpreter, I facilitate communication between individuals or groups who don’t speak the same language but need to reach a common goal. To do this, I rely on a deep understanding of both languages and cultures to convey meaning, not just mere words. Keep exploring this section to learn more about my Italian interpreting services and the world of translation!

What are interpreting services?

Interpreting services encompass a range of linguistic solutions tailored to meet diverse communication needs. As an Italian Simultaneous interpreter I ensure seamless communication during conferences, seminars, and large-scale events, meeting the need for real-time translation without disrupting the flow of discourse. Consecutive interpreting is suitable for smaller gatherings, legal proceedings and medical appointments, allowing for accurate translation while accommodating pauses for reflection. As an Italian simultaneous interpreter in London and beyond, I strive to deliver top-quality linguistic support tailored to my clients’ specific requirements, whether it’s for events, business meetings, or specialised settings such as sports events.

What is live translation?

Live translation, also known as simultaneous interpretation, involves conveying spoken messages from one language to another in real-time. As a seasoned Italian interpreter, I specialise in providing live interpretation for events ranging from conferences and seminars to sports events in London. My expertise ensures smooth communication flow, enabling participants to engage effectively regardless of language: this converts into better inclusivity, reputation, brand awareness, engagement and sales. When working in a multilingual context, relying on professional interpretation services is the only way to get results.

How much does an interpreter cost?

The cost of hiring an interpreter varies depending on factors such as the type of interpretation needed, the duration of the event, and the specific expertise required. As an Italian interpreter in London, my rates are competitive and reflect the quality and professionalism of my services. Whether you require simultaneous interpretation for a conference or consecutive interpretation for a business meeting, I provide transparent pricing tailored to your unique requirements through a personalised quote which will be itemised for full transparency. The important thing to note is that the simultaneous interpretation service is always provided by a team of at least two interpreters. For EWC-specific cost factors, see How Much Does EWC Interpreting Cost?

What does the quote for interpreting services include?

The quote for interpreting services typically covers the rate for the type of interpretation required and the duration of the event, travel expenses (if applicable), any specialized equipment needed, technical rehearsal and preparation time. As an Italian interpreter in London, my quotes are comprehensive and transparent, ensuring clarity and no hidden costs. Whether you need live translation for events or specialized sports interpretation services, my quotes are customized to meet your specific needs, providing peace of mind and value for money.

Can you arrange interpreting equipment?

Yes. I can introduce and liaise with trusted AV and interpreting-equipment partners, or work with your existing supplier.

Can you support hybrid and online EWCs?

Yes. I have experience with face-to-face, fully online and hybrid EWC meetings and can coordinate with the relevant technical providers.

Can Zoom do live translation?

Yes, Zoom offers “live translation” features, enabling real-time interpretation during virtual meetings and events. As an experienced Italian interpreter in London, I can guide you to seamlessly integrate Zoom’s live translation functionality in your events to facilitate multilingual communication. Whether it’s business conferences, webinars, or virtual gatherings, I ensure accurate and reliable interpretation services through Zoom or other video-conferences platforms, like Microsoft Teams and Webex Cisco.

Can you provide languages other than English and Italian?

Yes. I draw on an extensive European network of vetted conference interpreters and build each booth around the language combination, subject matter and meeting requirements.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as your meeting dates and languages are known. Specialist EWC interpreters are in particularly high demand during recurring peak periods. The revised European Works Council Directive removes previous exemptions and may increase the number of active EWCs. Because many councils schedule their meetings during the same peak periods, booking specialist interpreters well in advance is likely to become increasingly important. For practical timing guidance, see When Should You Book Interpreters for an EWC Meeting?

Will we have the same interpreters at every meeting?

Continuity is a priority. Wherever possible, I retain the same core booth partners across plenary sessions, select committee meetings and training, supported by standby substitutes briefed in advance.

What should we send the interpreting team?

Agendas, presentations, terminology, previous minutes, speaker information and relevant background documents all support effective preparation. The earlier these are available, the better. For a full document checklist, see What Documents Should You Provide to an EWC Interpreter?
